A Day That's DeVINE (Wine Journey)

At the end of this day long jaunt, you'll be able to stock your wine cellar (or at least a big box in the basement) with your favorite locally made wines and impress your vino-savvy friends with your new wine knowledge. Begin in Leonardtown, designate a driver and grab an early lunch at the The Front Porch (most tasting rooms open around noon on weekends), then off to Port of Leonardtown Winery. Cross the bridge and on to Lusby to visit Solomons Island Winery and Cove Point Winery.

Move on to Perigeaux Vineyards and Winery in St. Leonard, the brand new Romano Vineyard and Winery in Brandywine and Fridays Creek Winery in Owings. Dine at Rod 'N' Reel in Chesapeake Beach (local wine served here!) and stay at the Heron's Rest or Seahorse Guest Cottage in North Beach. Here are some phrases to throw around throughout the day ... "full-bodied," "smooth tannins," "this one has a peppery taste on the finish" and "which wine do you recommend with chocolate cherry cheesecake?"
